Professional Carpet Systems was opened in 1978 by Joe and John Lunsford, whose mother, Jean Beason, was an accomplished chemist. They wanted to find a way to extend a carpet's lifespan if it was still in good condition but had unacceptable color loss or changes.

After years of research and testing, Jean created a unique, on-location dyeing system. Then, they launched Professional Carpet Systems in Atlanta, Georgia. The system was a hit in the marketplace, garnering success for the company. Not wanting to keep this concept to himself but realizing that he could not expand it throughout the United States alone, Joe turned to franchising the PCS system in 1982. PCS has expanded its services to offer carpet repair, water damage restoration, and carpet replacement.

Professional Carpet Systems has 75 active franchises in 32 states, including Canada and seven foreign countries. The average franchise in the PCS system partnered with the organization for over 9.5 years. PCS is a dynamic and growing franchise with a mature core and a new direction and horizon.
